About Bearberia

Bearberia is an imaginary island and is home to the Bear & Bee, an unlikley pair of friends who build their life together in rhyming stories, where you pick the music, play games and read their stories at bedtime.

The idea for the Bear & Bee came from author Shiån Serei when his children were small and refused to go to bed on time. Shian began playing guitar at night, while guarding their rooms, and discovered the children fell asleep quickly to acoustic music. A nightly concert became their routine and now he shares the music in his book Bear & Bee Bedtime Rhymes. Available worldwide in eBook and Print versions.

Bear & Bee Bedtime Rhymes will soon be available in five languages; English, Spanish, French, Russian and Mandarin Chinese. The translated versions will be produced in Amazon Kindle Format for eBooks and in traditional print options as well.

Bear & Bee Bedtime Rhymes are stories meant to bring parent and child together for a memorable time just before falling asleep. The stories are comprised of  all original poems, written by Shiån Serei to help develop a child’s understanding of the world, especially regarding what we often call ‘normal.’ There are many kinds of families, and relationships in the world that are different to others and the idea that one kind of family or pattern is “right” often confuses children. About Shiån Serei

Shian is an accomplished international author, entrepreneur, and storyteller. Shian has worked with children’s charities and missions from around the world. His efforts as a philanthropist, author and musician are brought together in the “Bear & Bee, Bedtime Rhymes” project. The electronic version of the books includes musical tracks to accompany the reader as they spend that magical time just before bed with their children.

Shian was a single father when his children were young. During that time, he became frustrated with the ‘up and down’ syndrome that occurred each night at bedtime. His kids were simply not ready to fall asleep! Then one night, he made a discovery, he began playing acoustic songs on his guitar. After 20 minutes, his children were completely calm and slept through the night.

Nightly concerts became his tradition thereafter until his children were almost in their teens. Naturally, both of them grew up and went on to become musicians as well, something Shian was especially proud to see happen. “Playing guitar is a hobby that can be continued for a lifetime and my family reunions often revolve around playing instruments when the relatives gather,” says Serei.

Shian Serei graduated from the University of New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology & Sociology and holds multiple Associate of Science Degrees.

Shiån Serei was interviewed on the Author First show, on Artist First Radio network. Host, Tony Kay, spoke with Shiån about the origin of his writing and early childhood influences. Shiån shared his experience in moving often as a child in a military family and how it helped him understand the world and dynamics of social influence.

The two also discussed two of Shiån’s newest books and how they were developed. Tony asked about the historical background of The Bee Keeper’s Daughter which begins in medieval Russia. Shiån also shared his experiences as a single father and how that contributed to the making of Bear & Bee Bedtime Rhymes– a children’s bedtime story that includes music by the author and interactive games.
